My Project
Print magazines will help my Title I 3rd graders develop informational text reading skills. Students love to sit and read through the vibrant interesting stories and discuss the details with their classmates. Bonus for them is that they get to keep the magazine each week and take them home to share the stories with their families!
Many of my students come from backgrounds that don't allow for many extras and these magazines will introduce them to ideas, concepts and places that are brand new to them.
Using these magazines will also help them learn how to navigate through informational text which will help them succeed in reading. Reading in 3rd grade is important and my students must be able to read complex texts in order to be promoted to 4th grade.
