Time for Kids for Students with Emotional Disabilities
My students need non-fiction materials that are engaging, informative, and at their individual reading levels such as these 24 subscriptions to Time for Kids magazines.
Non-fiction reading is critical for preparing my class for college and a career! My students with emotional disabilities must have exposure to non-fiction text to be prepared for life.
I teach a self-contained Special Education classroom.
My dynamic group of students have diverse social, emotional, and behavioral needs. My students may have a diagnosis of an emotional disability, mental health disorder, or an autism spectrum disorder. Each student in my classroom is very unique and requires individualized support and resources
My Project
My students need non-fiction materials that are engaging, informative, and at their individual reading levels such as these 24 subscriptions to Time for Kids magazines. My students will use the weekly Time for Kids magazines in many ways. First, these materials will provide my students access to non-fiction materials as well as exposure to grade level text. We will use these materials to decode non-fiction materials, identify key information, read for understanding, and increase vocabulary. Finally, these magazines will help teach my students about current events in the world.
A year subscription to Time for Kids would benefit approximately 20 students with emotional disabilities.
These magazines would be used in many ways to teach my students skills that will help them be successful in school and life.
