Time for Independent Reading With Time for Kids Magazine!

Help me give my students a subscription to Time for Kids weekly magazine so they can increase their knowledge of current events and build their nonfiction reading skills.

My Students

My students are eager to learn, and they want to be successful. We have talked about how improving their reading skills will help them in all other subjects. They are participating in a challenge to read at least 30 books during this school year, and I want to also provide them with opportunities to read nonfiction texts. My students enjoy connecting what they are learning to their own lives and experiences, and this project would give them more opportunities to do that.

My Project

My students know that reading is one of the most important skills they are learning to help them be successful both in and out of the classroom. During reading workshop, students work independently to practice the skills they are learning while I work with small groups. In order to build their reading stamina and independence, I would like to provide them with their own Time For Kids magazine.

This is an engaging, weekly publication that includes real-world issues and information and integrates social studies, science, and math in its content.

The articles and activities it contains will help students strengthen their understanding of nonfictional texts while they learn about current events and issues around the world.
