Help me give my students the opportunity to appropriately learn about what is happening in the world around them through a fifth-grade lens rather than learning through social media.
This project is used as a weekly view of interesting worldly events that are explained appropriately, in kid terms. Today, most kids get information from popular social media apps, which use language inappropriate for their young minds. I want my students, to be armed with knowledge from trusted sources, in a language they understand.
Time for Kids also sheds light on important topics such as racial equity and women's equality, and teaching in a low-income district allows students to see themselves in important events around the world.
With such intense, but important topics happening, having a credible, reliable source for our students is really important as they grow into adults and leaders of the future.
