My Students
"Are you ready, Tigers?" is how I greet my reading and writing students every day. They always answer with a resounding "Yes!" as they enter my class.
My school has a high number of students who are ESOL, English Language Learners and there are a few who are Special Education, and gifted.
Even though we have to cater to and adapt to such a wide range of learning needs, we know that all children will learn if given the right tools and technology (and teachers who care).
As their reading teacher, one of my main objectives is to facilitate the students I serve using the most up-to-date technology while improving and enhancing their reading experiences.
My Project
Our 4th-graders need digital subscriptions for TIME for Kids magazine so that they can improve their literacy levels while learning how to quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
Reading informational text will allow our students to develop sophisticated comprehension skills, build critical content knowledge and vocabulary, and apply higher-order thinking skills.
Your donation to this project will allow my fourth grade students access to TIME For Kids online magazines for a year. My students will be able to read and complete reading assignments at home as well as in the classroom.
More than half of students from low‑income households
