My students need an updated listening center that actually works. They are tired of old cassette tapes that get eaten in the tape player!

My Students
Do you remember as a young child getting to sit and listen to stories being read to you at the listening center? This used to be a favorite center activity of my kids until our cassette player started eating our cassettes! It is just not fun anymore. It's time for us to update to an mp3 player!
I teach a wonderful group of second graders.
They just love story time and reading books. They are very eager to learn to become better readers. Many come from underprivileged homes with little exposure to books, and so they need the extra reading time that the listening center gives to them.
My Project
We currently have a very nice listening center area set up in our classroom, but our tape player is so old that it is always eating the cassettes. I would like to be able to transfer them to a digital format so that my kids are able to listen to the stories with ease. This center is used on a daily basis to strengthen their reading skills and help them to become fluent readers.
As you well know, reading is the foundation of EVERYTHING we do in life!
A listening center exposes children to more than just the words on the page; it demonstrates proper speech patterns, the basics of how a book is read, and the excitement that reading can bring. With your help, we can make this a reality and help them build this strong reading foundation. Your generous donation will help my very young students enjoy a listening center again. Thank you in advance for your time and support!
