Tigers, Presidential Portraits, and Black History Month, Oh My!
Help me give my students paint brushes, colored markers, tempera kwik sticks, and tape for displaying finished art work to complete this month's jam packed art themes.
My diverse student artists (544 students) are eager to create and expend their artistry after having been limited with their art resources for the past 18 months due to covid. Their need to THINK, to DREAM, to LEARN, to CREATE to ACHIEVE, and to GROW is so very crucial for their well being both emotionally and socially. The Arts discipline fosters and nurtures all these.
What better way than to ART PLAY!
When our budding artists play, explore, experiment, make, create, design, draw, paint, cut, glue, color, they are on their way to becoming global citizens who will make our world a better place.
Help me keep that spark of artistry alive. My heart thanks you on behalf of my student artists. Go ART!
My Project
Creativity and art play fosters learning that transcends all disciplines. Having the supplies to be able to imagine and to create empowers the artist to greater heights.
The ability to create something that has been imagined is empowering for a child.
Having the supplies readily available and on hand aids tremendously in an uninterrupted and smooth completion of art projects.
There is much to celebrate in the art world. We start off with Chinese New Year, Black History Month, Valentine's Day, and President's Day.
For Chinese New Year, my second graders will be drawing and coloring tigers to celebrate the year of the tiger in Chinese New year. Third graders will be creating their paper quilts a la Faith Ringgold for Black History Month using the corrugated art boards. Kindergarteners will be doing their Martin Luther King portraits. Second graders will be painting their presidential portraits of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln using the much needed paint brushes. The tempera Kwik sticks and the colored markers are used up most often due to their vibrant colors and ease of use for my student artists. We will be needing the tape to hang up their awesome student masterpieces at the end of each project. Other art lessons from fellow art teachers at Teachers Pay Teachers website aide in sharing the wealth of art knowledge and expertise that needs to tapped into to be part of the art community.
Keeping the art room stocked with the necessary art supplies each school year is a challenge that can be met with your generosity. Kindly help our artists fulfill their dreams.
