Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"College for certain!" My students chant this every morning because they are determined to go to college.

Although most of my students are from families below the poverty level, they bring a wealth of love, sincerity and a strong appetite for learning.

My students come to school every day ready to "show what they know" and work as a team to gain more knowledge. They attend a school where the day is extended and the school year is longer than all the schools in their community. The school teaches students to have a laser like focus on college.

My Project

I am requesting math games and manipulatives, such as Bingo, Multifactor and Store Budget that help students practice math skills they will need far into adulthood. Students will practice converting fractions to decimals to percents. They will work in groups to play "real life" games that simulate shopping and paying bills.

Many of my students are struggling when it comes to relating math to "real life" situations.

Donations to this request will make a difference because this will add to a class library of math materials where students can learn to apply the math strategies they have learned. The broad impact this project will have on my students will be to improve their math confidence and build a lifelong love for math.
