Sometimes I think my students can work standing on their heads. I find them curled up in corners, stretched out on the floor, sitting, standing, or whatever position best meets their needs.
Each student has their own unique way of learning.
My students come from a rural, farming community that is isolated from other areas of the state. They are African-American, White, Hispanic and Multi-Racial and span the range of middle class to poverty. My students do not have the advantages of students in more urban areas, yet they come to school ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They inspire me every day!
My Project
When students come to the media center to work, they are met with old wooden tables and chairs that are less than comfortable. The furniture is large and bulky, making it difficult to move to create flexible groups.
By donating to our project you will help us purchase The Surf Portable Lap Desk/Laptop Stands to help students create a workspace that is flexible and meets their needs.
These portable lap desks/ laptop stands provide a comfortable place for students to bear down upon regardless of where they are working. Students will be able to create a workspace on the floor, move around chairs, even borrow them to work in other areas like the bleachers in the gym or outside. This will help us promote anywhere, anytime learning.
