My students need 6 different colors of card stock, 2 ink cartridges, 2 boxes of envelopes, and 4 boxes of labels to make the games and 25 boxes to store the games.
I teach 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students science and social studies. We live in a low-income rural area. We have a great school full of great students, but very little money to purchase needed resources.
TIGER: Thought-provoking Interesting Games for Enrichment and Review. TIGER is the name of the games we are designing. Students will begin learning vocabulary and facts by formulating questions in a multiple choice format. They will put the questions on the front of tiger cut-outs. They will put the answers on the back. We will type the questions and answers on labels in order to make multiple games. We plan to share the games with other classes to help our school community. Students learn better through meaningful games than traditional teaching methods. That fact has been proven time and again in my classroom. When learning is fun, learning happens. TIGER can make learning fun.
The solution is you. You can help us get the supplies we need to make the TIGER games for enrichment and review. Commercial games of this type are very expensive and are generic. My students can make their own games based on our state standards and at varying academic levels for a fraction of the cost of commercial games. Plus the games will be more special to the students because they made them. Students can make TIGER game boards and TIGER cards out of the assorted card stock colors (a different color for each topic). They can separate the cards using the envelopes. They can print the questions and answers on labels to put on the cards. We need the ink cartridge refills to print the labels. We can store the games in the boxes. They are small and will be easy to store. Students will learn new concepts when they make the TIGER games and they will review when they play the TIGER games. They will help their school community when they share the games with other classes. Go T-I-G-E-R!
Remember that when learning is fun, learning happens. TIGER can make learning fun for my students. You can provide the materials needed to make that happen for my students. You can help make learning fun and make learning happen in my classroom. Your generous donation will allow my students to help themselves learn, because they will make the games. Your help will help my students help others learn, because they will share the games they make with other classes. You can make learning fun. You can make learning happen.
