Help me give my students independence and fine motor skills in a fun way using lacing sneakers.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Lewis's classroom raised $263
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students will learn real-life skills by learning how to tie their shoes with the shoe lacing toys in this project. Many children often learn to tie their shoelaces in the first few years of primary school. It is an important skill to have as it encourages the child’s independence in self care.
No matter what method you use, tying shoes requires learning and recalling several steps in a row; This helps to build sequencing skills, visual memory, motor planning, focus and attention to complete the task.
Shoelace tying involves fine motor skills, bilateral hand coordination, visual perceptual skills and hand eye coordination. All of these skills can translate to other skills in life (opening food packages, writing, feeding themselves, etc.) and build the confidence of my students to complete tasks on their own.
