Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, imaginative, and eager to learn. We are a Title-1 school in a low-income urban community. Many of my students rely on being in school to receive the resources that they need to learn and the social-emotional outlets that they need to express themselves and manage their feelings.
My beautiful and energetic class is filled with 21 first graders who have been working very hard to learn from home since March 23rd.
My students look forward to art-making and creating in school and for many of them this is the highlight of their day. My students do not have access to materials in their homes that will allow them to engage in creative art-making activities.
My Project
Every year my students and I celebrate Spring by putting on a Spring Concert. My students prepare for the concert by creating their own tie-dye shirts to wear during the performance. Although we are learning from home, my students will be putting on a Virtual Spring Concert.
Please help my students shine on the day of their Virtual Spring Concert by helping me provide them with the materials that they need to create their tie-dye shirts.
Each child will need their own white t-shirt and a personal tie-dye kit to create their tie-dye shirts.
This hands-on project will allow my students to engage in an interactive activity as they are able to let their creativity flow!
