I have been teaching Kindergarten for 15 years! Getting to watch my students come into the classroom, unsure about themselves, and then leave at the end of the year with confidence is why I teach this amazing age.
My students at our school come from a wide variety of cultures and languages.
Currently, our school has 41 different languages being spoken! It is very special for students to interact and learn from each other. While they are so different, they are also very much the same. Learning how each family is different, but special, will lead to a lifetime of cultural understanding and appreciation.
My Project
I am asking for funds to buy new chair pockets for my Kindergarten classroom. I have been using the same chair pockets for 15 years and they have officially been retired!
We need new chair pockets to keep our Kinder classroom tidy and organized.
What I love about chair pockets is that students have a space that is all their own. They can store their 1)pencil box, which is personal to them and very special, 2) keep necessities like water bottles and glasses cases, and 3) hide special treasures like a pine cone or lip balm!
Being part of a community is feeling like you belong. By giving my Kindies a space of their own in a classroom with so much already in it makes them feel special and safe. It also keeps my classroom tidy and organized. I wish I could continue to use my chair pockets from years past, but they are worn out!
