This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am school social worker at PPES in Middletown, NY, which serves a diverse student body, with 76% of its students identified as economically disadvantaged. I often encounter students who come to school cold or not as tidy as they would like due to their economic status.

Being cold and worrying about their hygiene often leaves students distracted from learning.

Providing them with deodorant, wipes, lotion and other hygiene supplies to be tidy and beanies, gloves and scarves to be warm and toasty will provide my students with a chance to stay focused and not be distracted by their worries. Thank you!
