My Students

My students are eager to return to hands-on and outdoor learning after being virtual for a year.

They've been through a lot during the pandemic and are hoping for a more normal school year. Many students have lost family members to COVID-19, making their normally challenging home lives even more difficult during quarantine and virtual instruction.

Every week, over four hundred students will rotate through my classroom for STEM lessons. We will be learning about our world through hands-on investigations and lessons. By combining Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, students will be learning how to think through problems and come up with solutions.

My Project

For the past two years, our classroom greenhouse has been used as an extra storage space. Instead of lights being plugged in, plants inside adding oxygen to our classroom, it has sadly held boxes and bins. While we aren't past covid, we aren't virtual and there are no plans to send students out of the classroom.

It's time to get our classroom greenhouse filled with sensitive/tickle plants to study as we grow them from seeds until they are strong enough to take home.

The potting soil, coconut moss, seeds, plants, and trays will be used by over 400 students to grow their own plant to take home.
