Tickle the Ivories

My Students

Despite the hardships and other adversities, Our students come to school eager to learn, grow socially, and develop new personal and educational relationships. As a Title I school, our students are sometimes not afforded the opportunity to experience other types of music outside of the school day.

To believe in a child is to open all doors of opportunity.

We continue to push our students to grow and achieve at the next level each and everyday. We support the ambitions of our students and encourage them to try new things. Music has the power to inspire our students and the community around them.

My Project

In my classroom, I currently have 18 electronic keyboards. With large classes (up to 25-30), students have to miss valuable hands-on practice time while waiting their turn to play. Adding these keyboards to my classroom will allow me to instruct the whole class at one time and provide each student equal opportunities to play each day. Students will be able to focus their energy on learning, rather than on worksheets or other activities waiting to play their daily assignments. My curriculum will be heavily focused on playing the piano. The skills they learn, and the songs they practice will be used in performance settings and set students up for success in middle and high school, should they choose to stay on the music path.
