My Students
My students are faced with many challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Despite their hardships, they come to school ready to learn. They deserve to have access to the needed technology to make them successful on their state exams and ACT.
Our classroom calculators are old and many of them are in disrepair.
The majority of my students cannot afford to purchase their own calculator to use. If I cannot provide a calculator for them, they are left at a great disadvantage. Students without access to these graphing calculators risk not being prepared for exams that are pivotal to their collegiate success.
My Project
We are preparing our students for college and career readiness in math class by using graphing calculators to allow students to do very complex calculations and show work. In mathematics, it is the best tool to use for students to show and understand their work.
These calculators are costly and the majority of students cannot afford to purchase one on their own.
We use many activities where graphing is an integral part of developing knowledge of equations and transformation geometry. These calculators will help my students learn these skills and be more efficient when it comes to taking their college entrance exams.
