Help me give my students targets to help with their overhand and underhand throwing skills. These mats will allow them to aim at specific point values and play cooperative games with each other.
My students are from a Title I School in West Oak Lane, Philadelphia. Most are living in a single parent, grandparent or foster parent home. I teach grades K-8 and interact with every student. They are curious, have lots of energy and always eager to try something new.
I need throwing targets to help my younger students master their overhand and underhand throws.
I currently teach about 425 students each week. Our gymnasium also doubles as a cafeteria so I teach in our recess yard about half the time. Out there, we have no equipment and nothing for students to aim at. These targets will help them stay focused on their task at hand and prevent disruptions!
My Project
These targets will help my students learn to perfect their aim! Overhand throwing is a skill we use repeatedly in class as they grow so it is important for them to master when they are in the lower grades. Having targets will help my students maintain focus and prevent disruptions from errant overhand throws. These will allow us to play lead up games for baseball, bowling, and many other activities. I will be able to introduce new games and incorporate addition and subtraction into physical education class. These targets will help keep my classes more organized, engaged and most importantly more fun!
