This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school every day with smiles on their faces, ready to learn and become college-ready. In our class, we work as a "team" to make each other better! We strive to be a Growth Mindset classroom and keep challenging ourselves without giving up.
I teach at a large school in New York City where 100 percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from low-income families and lack the resources needed to extend their knowledge at home. Despite so many hardships, my students come to school ready to do their best and learn all they can so they can be successful.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting are in order for our class to be a safe and welcoming classroom environment. This year our classroom theme is about being kind and spreading kindness around our community, class, and school. The green bulletin board paper will be used to bring color to our classroom. The confetti borders will be put around the bulletin boards as a decoration. The pencil sharpener will be used every day to make sure our pencils are nice and sharp to make us better writers. The writing notebooks will be used to help us form our letters correctly. The mailbox will help students stay organized and keep their parents updated with notices. The desk organizer will help me organize important documents. The confetti paper will be used for important invitations for the parents. All of the confetti accessories will be used around the classroom to help spread kindness.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing and walk into a welcoming classroom environment every day.
By implementing kindness in my classroom, my students will begin to see themselves as kind students. We will use these materials to aid us to stay motivated and feel excited to come to school every day. As the teacher, I want to teach my students how to be kind in a safe and fun classroom environment!
