This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are so fortunate to have a classroom set of potter's wheels. Sadly, many of them are aging and in poor condition. My goal over the next several years is to replace a wheel a year with a new Brent wheel- a wheel known for its solid construction and longevity.
We have a brand new class of students who are serious about honing their pottery skills, and it's exciting to know that many of them will move on to become artists, makers, and hobbyists who will take their craft into the world and share it!
We are a public school with creative kids who thrive in the immersive craft of ceramics- creating beautiful hand built and wheel thrown artwork for everyday use.
I believe the biggest asset of our school is our students and the variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and languages they represent.
Our kids come from all walks of life- and our collective experiences are what drive our students to create meaningful artwork.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
