This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is made up of 32 low-income students, 16 girls and 16 boys. I have 19 English Language Learners who need Total Physical Response and other visual, and or auditory scaffolds to increase their English language development. The rest of my students are reclassified English learners. As a 1 to 1 iPad school, the students have become literate in utilizing multiple applications like iMovie, and Keynote. They are enthusiastic and highly motivated by technology, which is enhancing their learning tremendously.

My Project

Most of my underprivileged students do not get the opportunity to play in team sports. Their parents do not have the resources or time to enlist them. In order to help students develop their gross motor skills we will run, learn to throw and catch. They will also learn to swing and hit the ball. I hope to provide students the forum to express their abilities through softball games.

By providing training with a tee, gloves and foam balls students will learn the fundamentals of softball.

They will participate in a sport that will encourage teamwork, and good sportsmanship. While they are playing softball we will utilize the speaker to broadcast the game. The students will experience what it is like to play softball in a stadium with music, broadcasting and an audience. This can lead some students in the path to play sports in middle or high school.
