My Students

My students are cheerful, outgoing, and have lots of energy. They are eager to learn and participate in new and challenging activities.

Our students want to be exposed to more activities that they can do with family and friends.

We are a Title I school that does not have a gym and very little equipment. These students deserve the opportunity to as many experiences as possible in their Physical Education class.

My Project

Do you remember “Itsy, Bitsy, Spider?” Can you say the words without hand gestures? Maybe not, you retained the words from your hand movements. Students need to improve their Physical Literacy. Physical Literacy is the ability to move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of physical activities in multiple environments that benefit the healthy development of the whole person. One way to promote literacy skills in Physical Education is to include a story into a game or activity.

Students responding to action words in a physical way helps them remember the written word better.

These books will help students make a connection between the word and meaning. If I say jump you’re going to jump and say the word jump. When you come to that word when you’re reading you’ll remember it better. When students read, write, and speak and listen as part of the process of learning Physical Education content, performance is improved because these skills facilitate their thinking and reflection about what they are learning in Physical Education. Help my students improve their literacy with the support of these action word books.
