Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a distance kindergarten teacher. I work with 15 students of varying backgrounds in a Title I school. Distance learning is difficult but my students are thriving. They have never met in person yet friendships are forming. They have built a community and easily interact with each other and with me.

Tell me and I forget.

Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. My early learners are progressing. They like to "lead" the class" - routines, picking a favorite book/activity or doing anything special. They have now begun reading to the class - doing Readers Theater, simple leveled books, etc, My goal is to keep them actively involved for the rest of the year. Not just surviving but thriving!

My Project

My students are motivated, in spite of a pandemic and not being in a school building. They are emerging as leaders and love to take turns leading, asking questions or presenting to the class via Zoom.

We want to thrive - by receiving virtual games and scavenger hunts so we can learn and play.

We want to read everything we can - at home, to family and pets (!) to our extended family via Zoom using leveled readers and to our class. Hands-on STEAM activities keep our minds active - utilizing our best building and thinking skills, even with virtual materials.

It is February - we want to finish the school year actively involved, learning to our full potential and ENJOYING school!
