My Students
My scholars are curious and creative. They love learning! When I read to them, it seems their whole world is enhanced (lightens up.) They love talking to one another and playing at recess. All of them are from the south side of Chicago, and half are in school for The Very First Time after nearly a two-year pandemic.
My scholars are absolutely a great group of children.
They love reading and writing stories. I instill in them that "school is for learning." They lack some essential tools for learning in the classroom. However, their enthusiasm is unmatched.
Burke's First Grade Scholars in Room 204, teacher Ms. Langston's classroom, is going on a challenge next week to read for 30 days. We can't wait!
My Project
These items are essential in our classroom. My scholars will use them in small groups while learning. The nameplates are much needed. The first graders in room 204 will be so excited and grateful for learning tools such as these. I am glad for them.
We are always in need of pencils; having the ability to laminate small group work will be a fantastic experience.
Having hands-on manipulatives for student use is what my students lack. They love hearing new ideas about learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
