Help me give my students at our small, rural school the tools and materials to learn textile arts. Through hands-on projects, students will develop practical life-skills, and confidence as they explore creatively .

My Project

At our small, rural Title I school, we believe that every student deserves the chance to discover their creativity and build hands-on, real-world skills. That’s why I’m launching a Textile Arts class where students will explore the world of fabric, design, and functional art through sewing, crocheting, embroidery, and fiber crafts.

In this course, students will learn essential skills like hand stitching, pattern reading, and textile design.

They’ll create personal and community projects—everything from tote bags and home goods to classroom décor and afghans. Along the way, they’ll build patience, confidence, and creative thinking while learning a craft that has both historical significance and modern applications.

However, as a small district with limited funding, we don’t yet have the materials needed to bring this vision to life. Your support will help us purchase fabric, thread, sewing supplies, yarn, hooks, cutting tools, storage solutions, and basic classroom supplies.

With your help, our students—many of whom have never touched an embroidery hoop—will have the opportunity to create, problem-solve, and take pride in meaningful, tangible work. This is more than just a class—it’s a chance to equip students with lifelong skills and creative confidence.
