My students need four bass bars, one each of the notes A, B, C, and D, along with timpani mallets.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Hart's classroom raised $954
This project is fully funded
Over 500 students in grades K-4 come through my door every week. One love they all share is to have a musical instrument in their hands and to make their own music. To keep our classroom supplied, I have always looked for creative and affordable ways to obtain instruments that are age-appropriate for my young students. The Little Kids Rock organization has supplied my room with guitars and a drum set, and six years ago I obtained a grant of three bass bars from the Food Lion Foundation. These bass bars are easy for even the Kindergarten students to play, yet they sound so much like a plucked string bass that the older students cannot resist adding them to their guitar ensembles. These three bass bars allow us to play the bass lines of many songs.
These bass bars are extremely versatile teaching tools in my K-4 music classroom. They help students learn steady beat in Kindergarten, and they supply a bass line for the older students' guitar chords. I have been looking for several years for a way to buy four more bass bars with the pitches A, B, C, and D. With these four additional bars, we would have a more complete bass diatonic scale, and students could use the bars with all our beginning guitar chords as well as many more songs in the Kindergarten through fourth grade classrooms.
The three bass bars I currently have are used nearly every day, and students of every age from Kindergarten through fourth grade play them. They have been used in community performances ever since I got them, and I would like very much to add four more notes to our classroom to expand our selection.
Having my students learn to make their own music using bass bars, drums, guitars, and other instruments is a priority with me. They come to music class excited and eager, and some of them would never get to play such professional instruments without the generosity already shown them through Little Kids Rock and the Food Lion Foundation. The addition of these four bass bars would extend the amount of music making the children could do, and each one of these bass bars would be used for many years to come by every child in my school. Thank you for your commitment to helping these wonderful students!
