This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade English Language Development teacher at a low performing, low income school in San Francisco's Mission District. The students in my classroom represent every minority and majority group in our community. They are great kids who have to overcome many obstacles just to come to school.
We need some serious sucking action at our school. And a new vacuum could just do the trick. We are 10 teachers who are in need of clean carpets. A new vacuum would allow us to keep our carpets clean and keep our rooms healthy for our students.
Currently, our rugs are swept clean. Sweeping is not enough to take out the dirt, dust, mites and allergens in our carpets. Many of our students suffer from asthma and allergies, a vacuum can help us reduce those triggers in our classrooms.
This is where you can make a difference in the lives of over 150 kids with a small donation. Help us buy a vacuum to give our kids a clean, healthy place to learn.
More than half of students from low‑income households
