This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like when you were in school? Do you remember what supplies you were required to have in class? The families in my classroom struggle to purchase most of the required materials needed for success in the classroom.

I teach 12 wonderful kindergarten, first, and second grade students in a self contained classroom located in a Title 1 school on the Lower East Side.

Their academic disabilities vary, and they require many hands-on activities to enhance their learning using their preferred modality.

My Project

Early childhood is important whether general or special education! These are the years that will shape a child's attitude about school and about learning. Making it the most positive and nurturing experience is a way to insure that these children will continue to love learning and strive to do their best in school. I have requested multiple boxes of dry erase makers. In my class we use dry erase markers in every subject. We use dry erase markers for literacy and math games and for free drawing.

My project is so important to me because early childhood education has become heavily focused on teaching literacy and other academic skills, but without basic school supplies this task is very difficult.
