This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What's a biology class without dissections? Dissections in biology class are the most memorable experience for many people. I want to provide my students with this wonderful experience.
My students are very bright and creative.
My students are very diverse and they represent every part of our city. They ride a bus for over an hour each direction just to be a part of our digital media magnet program. My students are eager to learn and that inspires me to reach new heights with the quality of my lessons.
My Project
The fetal pig dissection will provide a hands-on opportunity to conclude our physiology unit. This opportunity is important for my English Language Learners and provides all of my students a chance to grapple with the idea of becoming a surgeon or working in the field of medicine. The worms are for our classroom compost bin and will help my students learn how to start their own compost bin.
My students are young and have only a small understanding of the complexity of life.
These valuable experiences, dissections and composting, will help my students prepare for a life in the field of science.
