My students need folders, composition books, pencils and other supplies to start their journey in to middle school!
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Woods's classroom raised $495

My Students
Do you remember what it was like the first time you entered middle school? Having to switch classes while remembering where the next class is located? Let's not talk about trying to remember the names of all of your new teachers! Well, it's that time of year for my incoming sixth graders.
Located in Washington D.C., my students are in a neighborhood in which resources are at a minimum.
But you'd never be able to guess it in the classroom! In order to transition into middle school and become powerful scholars, they need folders to store important information, homework, and notices to parents and guardians. They also need pencils and pens to document important notes in all of their classes. They are nervous and excited about their first experience and with limited resources at home, I want to provide the best learning environment possible for them.
Although we've only been in school for about a month, students are already feeling a bit down because they haven't been able to bring in all of the supplies from their supply list. By having the items ready for them in the classroom, I can continue to encourage my students and the learning process can go on!
My Project
Spiral notebooks will be used to store notes that are taken in class. These notes will also assist students with test preparation. Composition books will be used to respond to writing prompts and to take notes from work that is completed on the computer. Folders are going to be a huge deal because they will contain all important information that needs to get home and be reviewed by parents and guardians.
Permission slips, homework worksheets, and reading logs will also be stored there! An additional pencil sharpener in the classroom will eliminate long lines caused by students needing to sharpen their pencils before and during class. It will also assist me in preparing to have several pencils sharpened before their arrival to class! Every teacher knows that pencils and pens are hard to come by and that students are always misplacing them! We need loads of #2 pencils and pens to continue our learning process uninterrupted!
Providing these starter items for my students will really assist them in succeeding in their transition to middle school.
It will also encourage students who were not able to purchase supplies from their back to school list. We could really use your assistance in providing these classroom staples for our sixth graders!
