Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students at our school have access to a large indoor storage space. This location at the school is just big enough for an indoor school garden to be built. This space has yet to be activated and utilized; it is currently vacant. Because we are a Title I school, many of our students and families face food insecurity, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hydroponic school garden will not only provide a learning space, but it will also supplement our students' food insecurity and be used as a learning tool in our culinary classes to support our lessons. Students will have control over the garden, allowing them to personalize it with plant markers.
Help us provide this chance for our students to participate in and be proud of a garden.
Assist us in getting healthy, home-grown food to our families and students who may be suffering as a result of the pandemic.
