My Students

As a school librarian, I make a positive impact on all 600 students in our learning community. My campus is a Title I school, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. They show up to the library bright-eyed and eager to communicate, collaborate, and learn. The library is the heart of the school and a safe place where students can build a love of reading. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels. Each one is unique, and everyone in the library respects each other. I care about my students, and they know it!

My goal is to encourage students to become independent and lifelong readers and learners.

At the library, students enjoy reading a good book, being innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. I especially love that they are creative and try their best at everything that comes their way. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis.

My Project

I am a first-year librarian in need of a new book truck. The current book tuck in the library is old, wooden, and bulky. This beauty will replace it! It will be used to place books that students return when they visit the library every week. I will also be able to take it with me when delivering books to the classroom if the library happens to be closed for any reason. This new book truck will hold lots of books and materials for students to check out when I am on the go. I always introduce my students to a variety of literature including fiction, nonfiction, biographies, graphic novels, financial literacy, math, etc...

My students love visiting the library to exchange books, and this book truck will give them a place to return their books.

My district is planning to reopen for students who want to learn face to face on September 28th. I might have to deliver books to students this year, and this book truck has lots of space that will allow me to do that if needed. Instilling a love of reading is one of my top priorities, and I will do everything in my power to make sure that continues no matter what. We would greatly appreciate your support. Stay safe and take care!
