My Students

Where are the chapter books? Where are the other Frog and Toad books? These are common questions from my more advanced readers

I teach the most wonderful class of first grade scholars in a Title 1 school located in a huge urban school district in California.

The staff at my school has worked tirelessly to raise the number of students working above grade level benchmarks and the payoff shows in increasing test scores at district and state levels.

My Project

I want to send my students on the first grade reading to the best of their potential. Since I am a trained reading intervention teacher I have a wealth of books for my struggling and on level students to choose from. This year I have a higher number of students reading above grade level and very few books for them to choose from. By funding this project you can provide a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books for my students that include some of their favorite authors like Ezra Jack Keats and Arnold Lobel, books about characters from their cultures, and Common core Exemplar selections.

Reading is the most important thing a child will learn in school and what happens in first grade will set the bar for most students' future school career.

Please help me provide the best education for every student and send them off to second grade devouring books.
