If there is one instrument that is essential in a concert band, it would most likely be a bass drum. We are working hard to build an excellent music program. We currently need to replace several of the larger percussion instruments. Of most urgent need is a bass drum.
At a time when many music programs are disappearing across the nation, we are proud to continue to encourage our students to challenge themselves as well as bring joy and beauty to our community.
The bass drum is the heartbeat of every band, driving our young musicians forward. To be successful, our children need functional, updated instruments to play.
We are a small rural school, but we encourage all students to take part in music. In fact, our 5th and 6th-grade students are required to take part in band class. To support their learning, instruments must be in proper working order. I teach all the music classes, preschool through high school, so a new bass drum will pass through the hands of all our students a some point in their school career. We not only make music, but also learn about the science of sound.
