My Students
As a teacher in the Chinese Dual Language Immersion classroom, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking for ways to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are goal-oriented, passionate, clever, and spontaneous toward their learning.
They love to read the authentic texts in Chinese and engage in great conversations with their peers while discussing the contents. They also love to share their voices with others.
My Project
Chinese Literacy practice in a Chinese DLI classroom is as crucial as ELA practice in any classrooms. Many students express their concerns on how and where to increase the opportunity to read outside or even inside of the classroom independently. In such a technology rich world, there are some fantastic online reading resources for my Chinese DLI students to read more. All my students are so thirsty for more Chinese reading materials in order to improve their Chinese reading fluency and comprehension.
Students will use the iPads and the online readers to practice their Chinese fluency, storytelling and writing.
They love to listen to the online stories in Chinese to practice their interpretive listening. Having the iPads in our classroom will provide the valuable experiences for my students to grant the access to listening to the authentic Chinese speaking, practicing Chinese characters, recording their understanding to the content and practicing their Chinese language skills.
My students will also use a fun application to create their first digital Chinese book with their drawing and voice recording on iPads. We will publish the books online and make them available on the iPads for all students and parents to review.
These two iPads will be a great addition to our classroom iPad set to reach our goal of practicing Chinese literacy. Your donation will help my students gain the access of more Chinese reading materials and then help them be career and college ready.
