it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"I believe children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way." These are not only words from a popular song but a strong belief that I hold as a teacher.
Equity for all!
My students are full of potential. They are bright shining beacons of light. I am asking for assistance so that they can glow like the stars that they are.
Fortunately, for the students in my class, envisioning the future is something we think of and talk about often. Because their daily existence is so challenging, I have them focus on their bright and delightful futures!
I teach in a low socio-economic area at a Title I school where 99% of the population receives free breakfast and lunch at school. On most days the heartiest and healthiest meals that the students receive are what they eat at school. It isn't unusual for the students in my class to stockpile food in their book bags to take home in order to have something to eat later that day.
Despite the harsh circumstances and backdrops of their lives, the students come to school daily with smiles on their faces.
My Project
I am so proud of my students for all that they have endured this year. They have had to adapt to a new norm both at home and in school. Due to the Coronavirus, students are not allowed to use the water fountain at school. Not safe for drinking is what the signs says.
Water is a basic right, and my students are in desperate need of pure, clean and safe drinking water.
Please help me fulfill this primal need. My students are told to bring their own water. However, most families cannot afford to do that. Water is vital for both their academic and physical growth.
