Third Graders Learn Through STEM

My students need STEM Learning Labs and the Real-World STEM Challenge Kit for grades 2-3 because it is going to provide them with hands-on learning in Science while integrating Technology, Engineering, and Math.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Smith's classroom raised $544

My Students

I teach third grade to a group of wonderful students! I teach at a Title 1 school where most of my children live in poverty. All of the students in my school receive free breakfast and free lunch because the students cannot afford to pay for their lunches.

Many of these students lack the basic necessities (electricity, running water, clean clothes, even food).

Even though they come from these circumstances, these students come to school excited to learn and ready for the challenges that given to them.

We work daily in our classroom to close the achievement gaps through small group instruction as well as whole group instruction. Our school is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) school. As much as possible, I try to include all aspects of this within my lessons to give students the opportunity to express themselves. By using a hands-on learning approach, our students are excited to learn. As an educator, I am always looking for a fun and hands-on approach to learning. I think the STEM station kits would do just that! The students will love trying to solve the real world situations. Students will learn to think like scientists and engineers.

My Project

Many of the children in my classroom are hands-on visual learners. They have to be able to see it and touch it in order to retain the information. These STEM Science kits are going to give them exactly what they need!

Many of the projects within these kits are aligned with the SC College and Career Ready Academic Learning Standards.

The students are going to be able to conduct science experiments using STEM/STEAM to help enrich their learning in the classroom. This learning is going to prepare them to be college and career ready citizens when they graduate from high school and move on to their careers or even college.
