My Students
I teach third grade at a Title One charter school. These kids are amazing! I love watching them help each other and challenge themselves to be better learners and friends.
I want to give the students in my classroom the best experience they can have.
Having the supplies available for them is one thing I want to give them to help them advance as much as possible. Whether it's flexible seating, technology, or manipulatives, I believe that students succeed when they are comfortable enough to take risks.
My Project
Wind is such a powerful force of nature! We see its effects every day around us. Clouds float lazily through the sky. Tornadoes devastate communities in a matter of minutes. Its power is harnessed to produce clean, efficient energy. I want my students to learn about wind and its abilities in this world.
Having a wind tunnel will allow my students hands-on experiences creating and testing hypotheses with different materials.
Students will be able to create structures according to the objective presented. For example, if students are learning about homes in a tornado prone area, they can use materials provided to construct a building that will withstand the wind. If the lesson is on safe power sources, who knows what they might come up with?
