This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am so excited to be teaching third grade in Boston Public Schools this year. In my Sheltered English Immersion class, all of my students will be English Learners, and, by the end of the year, bilingual. They are extremely hard workers and I want to be able to support them to ensure this is the best year ever for them. My students dream of being engineers, doctors, artists, and writers, and I know they will do all of those wonderful things and more.

I believe my job is to help build independence, creativity, and advocacy within each of my students.

With supplies from generous donors, I will be able to build the classroom they deserve. This classroom will include tools for individual students' learning styles, like wiggly stools for those who need more movement, and special notebooks for those who benefit from more space to write. I will be able to enhance their learning with art and reading projects. Finally, I will be able to build a learning space that is welcoming, supportive, colorful, and organized.
