My Project
For reading it is important to teach a love for reading. This is accomplished through reading quality chapter books with a high interest level. When students are able to connect with characters in a book, it helps them visualize. Visualization is an important skill to develop in third graders.
For math introducing fractions in 3rd grade is foundational.
Using hands-on activities greatly assists in comprehension and making connections. If students can recreate the fraction problems using fraction kits, it makes it real. Fractions are a big part of the state testing and it's an area of struggle. I hope to overcome that struggle.
