My Students
I teach 21 amazing kids in Dieringer School District. They are the kids whose year was cut short by COVID, followed by a year of uncertainty while learning online, but you wouldn't know it to see them in the classroom. My students are creative and thoughtful third graders! They come to school each day ready to try new things and ready to learn!
They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to teach this group of learners that are excited and ready to learn!
My Project
In our classroom, we use weekly read alouds to practice the reading strategy and comprehension skill of the week. Reading aloud to students allows them to listen to a fluent reader, thus building their listening vocabulary.
It is my hope that using read alouds will help struggling readers access the comprehension strategy by providing them an opportunity to practice their skills with an oral story and not be dependent on their current independent reading level.
If we want kids to be good readers, we must help them fall in love with reading
