Third Grade: Here We Come!

My students need reading comprehension and math tools, such as book logs, flip charts and markers, to help us get ready for 3rd grade.

My Students

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose!" Dr. Seuss said, and the students of class 202 demonstrate this same sense of determination every day.

Even though the odds may be against us, we know that we can and will succeed in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and beyond!

My incredible 2nd graders are determined to earn 3's and 4's on the New York State ELA and Math tests next spring, and we know that this requires lots of hard work. Unfortunately, some grown-ups don't believe that we can overcome the obstacles we face. We need your help to show them how brilliant we are!

My Project

These materials will help us prepare for third grade by strengthening skills in the three areas that are most challenging for my aspiring third graders: reading comprehension, writing in response to literature, and addition/subtraction with regrouping. We'll use these materials as part of our weekly literacy and math center work, and they'll help us get a leg up in a fun, engaging way.

I teach at a public school in Harlem where only 21% of students perform at proficiency level in ELA and only 32% perform at proficiency level in Math.

I am convinced of each and every one of my students' ability to succeed. Your support will demonstrate that you believe in them too!
