My students need a listening center with a CD player and headphones, plus books on CD to be able to access texts that otherwise they would be unable to understand.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every child should have access to great literature.
My students come from very diverse homes...we are a great melting pot.
They are a very vivacious group, who are eager to learn and do their best every day.
Our school....is a bit different. We not only look at the whole child, but we integrate the arts into every aspect of what we do. We learn through music, visual arts, and theater....
My Project
A listening center and books on CD are not things from the past...they can be the difference between really understanding text or being left in the dark.
In other words, for students with fluency problems there are many texts that they could really understand if they were read aloud (a listening center in this case). A listening center is just what we need.
As a classroom teacher, I see and feel the challenges my students face.
I am always looking for ways to help them all - those who are struggling and those who get it on the first try.
This listening center will be used by over 25 students.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
