My students need an HP laptop so that we may view projected websites from our new Reading Program and Math Program that will enhance our lessons visually.
Do you remember what it was like sitting in a classroom and your teacher is reading a lesson to the class and everything is distracting you? You're sitting in the back and you're having a hard time focusing because you speak a second language and wish you could have more visuals to help comprehend.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds.
Some are visual and others are auditory learners. I have a significant amount of English Learners who would highly benefit from a visual presentation of the lessons in class. Our classroom is a box with books and lessons waiting to be read. But my students want to think outside of the box. They come from a generation where they can use technology to help with comprehension, understanding and development. Technology has changed the way they learn, foster and grow. There are no limits to the imagination and they do not need to depend on what is just in their classroom. Through the use of the Internet, the possibilities of learning are endless and so are the interactive tools.
My Project
My students need an HP laptop so that we may view projected websites from our new Reading Program and Math Program that will enhance our lessons visually. We currently have computers in our classroom that are over 15 years old. They are so old that our district can't even service them. They are not able to retrieve Internet, which is really a disservice to my students. We have a school-funded projector, but without a laptop, I am unable to project technologically enhanced lessons for my students. Our current newly-adopted Reading Program has many tools on it's website to foster the learning of my students. The graphics, vocabulary and spelling games, are tailored to keep my third graders engaged for longer periods of time. Our Math Program also has a wonderful website with powerful "E-tools" which are used to help visualize math computations by just a click of a mouse. By being able to project these websites for my class, we can work together as a class to reach our educational goals while keeping them engaged.
A laptop will make a difference in the lives of my students by better engaging them in interactive websites that have been created for their reading and math programs.
A laptop will open the doors to the Internet for my students which till now has not been open to them in their classroom. My students need to be able to access more information that is available to them through the use of the world wide web.
