Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When my students enter my classroom, they are all scientists! I teach at a Title I, public school, with over 1,200 students with 80% low income. I specifically teach Science to middle school students (6th, 7th, and 8th grades) who are curious, energetic, and passionate about science. However, most of their opportunities and experiences come from my classroom and school. They really are excited about science and are always so eager to learn how science is used in their daily lives--from their cell phones to their video games.

My Project

Science is always changing because the world is always changing. My students must keep up with the latest Science news and advancements. Science World magazines will bring science concepts to life by engaging and making my students excited about Science. 'Science World' magazines can offer my students high-interest articles, hands-on activities, spectacular visuals and photography, videos, and games covering many aspects of science including physical science, life science, health, environmental science, and technology. The articles vary in length, from 2 to 4 pages, so struggling readers and high achievers can find articles that suits their abilities. The hands-on activities call for inexpensive and easy to find materials while teaching scientific inquiry and critical thinking. The videos can capture Science in action and the interactive trivia games can test students' reading comprehension for each issue while having fun! I really need your support to make this a reality. Thank you!
