My Students
"I can't see", "Where are we again?", "Can you help me I don't know where you guys are at". These are just a few of the statements that I hear and the challenge that I face daily.
I work with a great bunch of second graders who love to learn.
My school is a public charter school in a low income community in Michigan. My students face challenges of eating, and proper clothing everyday but despite their challenges my students come to school eager to learn everyday. My students have a great work ethic and strive for success.
My Project
Currently we have no technology inside our classroom. A family member did donate an old laptop to the class but the battery is no good so with the new battery the students will be able to lean from the many resources that educational resources that is on the Internet. I was gifted a portable smart board and an I pad but I currently do not have access to a projector which is required for the portable smart board. Also the connector will allow me to use the I pad for interactive programs. The document camera will allow the students to see images of books and handouts so that they will be able to follow along with each other as well as myself. Yes my students are every eager to learn but they are also very low so with some of this technology this will give my students other tools and avenues to learn material. Also this technology will allow my students hands on experience to better understand what they are learning.
My project is important because these items will allow me to continue to foster that learning spirit that my students have.
Also it will give them a chance to make that needed connection for understanding what it is they are learning. Also it will allow them to gain practice through games and activities offered through the many websites on line.
