My students need games and toys that will help them play, learn, socialize, and think all at the same time. They need different shaped Builders, Magna-Tiles and Water Marbles!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
There are 26 creative and hardworking first grade students in my general education classroom. We are the only first grade class in a high needs, low income school on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. Despite so many hardships outside of the classroom, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
Many of my students come from families that struggle to provide their children with supplies for school.
I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence by immersing them in a supportive, engaging and thought-provoking environment.
My Project
In order to engage students in their learning, the classroom must be filled with opportunities to use play and exploration. Play permits a child to fit the reality of the world into their own interests and knowledge.
Research shows that children who engage in complex forms of play have greater language skills than non-players, better social skills, more empathy, more imagination, and more of the subtle capacity to know what others mean.
They are less aggressive and show more self-control and higher levels of thinking.
These Magna-Tiles, 3D Builders, Gear Builders, Water Marbles and other items will be used year after year and touch so many children's lives. Please help and encourage children to learn through play!
