Think Like a Scientist, Act Like a Scientist!

My students need a Chromebook along with portable microscopes in order to fully grasp what scientists see when observing and researching.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember science class and how boring it was to stare at a textbook? My students cannot relate to scientists because their textbook is their only resource. Help me change that!

My students are inquisitive 5th graders who love to "google" questions and find answers on the internet.

About half of my students are English Language Learners, and all my students become deeply involved in their studies. During class time they are filled with questions and really enjoy working in small groups. They really do enjoy being in school and their love for learning becomes contagious!

My Project

In class, when it comes to science, we are limited to textbooks, worksheets and small plastic magnifying glasses. With the chromebook and portable microscopes, my students will be able to bring science to life! My students will be able to determine and collect their own specimens to observe, instead of relying on old textbook illustrations.

In order for my students to believe they can be scientists, they need to act and do what scientists do.

A huge part of active engagement during science investigation is taking ownership of your learning, and what better way to do that than to choose what to examine and research.
