Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My sixth grade classes are comprised of 80 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students are excited about learning and about being able to return to the classroom. I believe that all students deserve the opportunity to be educated in the best way possible. I have learned many valuable lessons from teaching virtually to returning from the "blip." My goal is to help students fill in the gaps and to prepare them for success in high school, college, and beyond.
My Project
Using whiteboards during the learning process is a daily occurrence in our math class. The whiteboards allow me to see a student's work, their understanding, their mistakes, and their work. This gives me the ability to see all my students' work at once which engages all students and not just those who understand. Students have the ability to share with one another and participate in the teaching of others.
What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last.
Students are constantly searching for new markers that are not faded or dried out. This causes students to lose focus and fall behind. With LCD tablets, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus their attention on learning. With the use of these LCD tablets, I will have the ability now to see the work from all students in real time. Explaining, reteaching, and clarifications will be easier to do during the teaching process.
By donating to this project, you are making it easier for students to engage and participate during lessons and to demonstrate their understanding in real time and improve in overall learning.
