My Students
My students are a group of eager & excited five-year-olds, who come to school happy and ready to learn. They love to work with their hands to create, build, and explore the world around them. Our school is a Title 1 school, and many of our students come from diverse backgrounds with diverse needs.
While the current demands of Kindergarten is rigorous, we are fortunate that TK allows us to blend appropriate academic skills to prepare students, while also creating opportunities to engage in learning through play and exploration.
My Project
TK is all about exploration, investigation, and experimentation. Our students, at this age, have a natural curiosity that drives their learning and thinking. While we do our best to encourage this inside the classroom, we also want to extend it outside of the classroom. These outdoor STEM activities will help nurture and develop their inquiry, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. They will get to design, build, construct, and learn through trial & error - all while working and playing together. Additionally, as they build these simple machines, ramps, and structures, they are also strengthening their fine motor skills and expressing their creativity.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
